Literary Essay, "The Ransom of Red Chief"
O'Henry's short story, "The Ransom of Red Chief is rich in humor and a number of literary devices. This 3-page essay format bunlde prepares students for writing a well-developed essay on the author's use of literary elements such as irony, figurative language, foreshadowing, exaggeration, and surprise ending. I've used this for several years and have received some well-written analysis of the short story.
