Study Questions, The Tell-Tale Heart
Students use these questions as a guide to understanding the short
story, "The Tell-Tale Heart". The 22 questions combine basic
understanding of the plot as well as knowledge of literary elements and
follow the story in chronological order. An answer key is also provided.
"Papa's Parrot"
"Papa's Parrot" - 20 Study Questions, Cause-Effect with key, Literary Guide including Characters, setting, theme, conflict, climax and resolution.
"Amigo Brothers" Character Trait Match
Students enjoy the short story "Amigo Brothers" by Piri Tomas. Even more, they enjoy matching the character traits on the Smart Board. I have students search for traits and place them in their Interactive Notebook (journal) then add additional traits they may have missed. There are two slides with 15 traits total. You must have access to a Smartboard and the Smartboard software to use the product.
The Pearl Unit
This unit of study includes Study Questions, foldables, Literary Terms, Discussion and many more activities. I didn't know I had so many of them. I definitely love this book. =)

Suspense in "The Monkey's Paw" - Using Text Evidence
I use this writing outline as students are beginning develop literary analysis skills. After we read, "The Monkey's Paw", students use text evidence to show the literary elements that the author uses to create suspense in the story. Comparing two Poems - "The Highwayman" and "How I Learned English"
Go Paperless! No Prep! Use the following Google Drive activity with your students. Share the link with students or use Google Classroom. A copy of the poems and a brief key are included for your convenience. The poem, "The Highwayman" is part of our state adopted textbook, but I find it a little too advanced for many of my 7th graders. Nonetheless, this chart takes two poems to chart out.
